As many aftermarket slides are common for Glocks and now Sig Sauer P320s, we see a variety of depths on Night Fision that are either cut into the optical slide or have a factory. Since the depth is not universal, it is necessary to measure the depth of cut from the top thread or top strip. Knowing your depth of field is one of three measurements you can take to get the perfect shot. Some industries will tell you the depth for optical cutting when you send the slide to cut.

The next element is not always present, but can affect the height of the optics: the plate. As with many slip options, there are several boards on the market to help you choose the best optics. A thicker blade will push your optics up and a thinner plate (such as a gasket plate) will push your optics height down. Most reputable board manufacturers will be able to tell you the exact thickness of your board.
Finally, the most obvious element? Optics. As optics become more popular, more and more companies are producing pistol optics. The part of the scope you measure is the back, where the battery for most scopes is located.

Although the battery compartment is quite similar in height to the Holosun and Trijicon optics, the back of the Leupold Delta Point Pro is taller. If you have a Delta Point Pro, you usually need the suppressor height to go over the high battery chamber at the rear for a witness.
So how do you measure it all? If you take your optic height, add any plate thickness, if any, and then subtract the depth of cut, you should have an approximate number for how high your optic will be at the top of the top range. If you are looking for a blade height that exceeds ** this number, chances are they are as low as our Costa Ludus scopes. Since this number is much larger than the optical height, they are likely to be at the same height as the suppressor.
